I’m not a huge fan with pastries but I don’t mind to try the good ones that people recommend. An excellent bakery that carries a variety of English specialties. I didn’t get a chance to try their croissants, but from the quality of the Eccles I think it’s a good indicator that they are experts in making good pastries. It was totally worth the time (and pain) to get to the Distillery District and try one of their heavenly goods.

Eccles Cakes
Currants, brown sugar, allspice and everything nice. Wrapped in our very own puff pastry.
It’s the right amount of sweetness (reminded me a bit of mincemeat tart but they are definitely not the same) and the pastry crust was similar to those danish biscuits (but defintiely way better than the boxed products. In fact I’ve never met a patisserie that creates this kind of pastry texture)
