NYC Eats: ‘wichcraft

Menu isn’t too special but their sandwiches are quite well crafted with good quality ingredients and fresh bread.  However I do think they are overpriced.  Also coffee isn’t good here.

My ratings: ❤❤❤❤
Price range: $

0811 Roasted turkey sandwich ('wichcraft)Roasted turkey sandwich
Avocado, bacon, onion relish & aioli
The turkey is from a real piece of roast turkey meat, not one of those mechanically sliced turkey sandwich meat.  Rest of the ingredients (bread included) are of good quality.

NYC Eats: Teariffic Cafe 茶之谷

It’s ok, can’t really find fault with this place.  You come in for refreshing tea drinks and maybe eat something from the snack menu.  Price is reasonable and there’s really not much to expect from here.

My ratings: ❤❤❤❤
Price range: $

0811 芝麻沙冰 (Teariffic)芝麻沙冰
A huge cup of shaved ice.

0811 鰻魚飯 (Teariffic)鰻魚飯
It’s alright.  Eel was rather boney but I’m sure it’s just from an air-tight package.  Either it’s the manufacter’s fault or they chose to buy a crappy one.

NYC Eats: Sullivan Street Bakery

Good Italian bakery that uses quality ingredients.  I find their savoury selections particularly well done.  Try to get their pizza when it’s still fresh from the oven.

My ratings: ❤❤❤❤
Price range: $

0811 Pizza Bianca 1 (Sullivan Street Bakery) 0811 Pizza Bianca 2 (Sullivan Street Bakery)Pizza Bianca
Hand formed flatbread, accented by olive oil, coarse sea salt & rosemary
The use of very simple ingredients produced this top quality piece of thin chewy bread.  It’s just pizza bread at its best.

0811 Bomboloni (Sullivan Street Bakery)Bomboloni
SSB’s signature Italian doughnut, containing homemade vanilla cream or seasonal homemade jam
The vanilla cream was quite unremarkable (and tad too sweet).  Good fermented yeast dough but nothing too special abut it (also feels it’s a bit burnt)

0811 Croissant (Sullivan Street Bakery)Croissant
Good flakey and buttery.  May not be the best croissant but it’s very well made for sure.

NYC Eats: Stage Door Delicatessens

Apparently it’s owned by a Greek family and it serves a stadard diner fare.  Coffee is hot and fresh.  Their food is pretty good and solid.  Price is good for the amount they give you.

Price range: $-$$

0811 Coffee & Cranberry Juice (Stage Door Deli)0811 Pastrami Omelette (Stage Door Deli)Deli Omelette
Pastrami omelette served with homefries, toast, coffee and cranberry juice
Their pastrami may not be the best, but it’s not any worse than those served in a Jewish deli.  I do think giving me a complimentary juice was a bit weird.  It was such a small cup anyway, what was the point of it?

NYC Eats: La Cense Beef Burger Truck

They use grass fed 100% beef for their burgers.  I got a very good steakburger.  Bun was just ordinary sesame bun, but the patty was juicy and tasted just like a steak (also a bit chewy like a steak).  It was cooked till pink in the middle.

NYC Eats: Kum Gang San 금강산

They gave me so much banchan (for a soup order, not a BBQ order), that you can be full just by eating the banchan.  Portion size is big, probably enough to fill up 2 people.  Food isn’t too bad.  It always seem to be full (and it’s a big restaurant) but it’s also open for 24 hours.

0811 해장국 Hegang guk (Kum Gang San금강산)해장국 Hegang guk
Beef broth soup & blood cake spicy soup
I was a bit skeptical to order this because blood cake is quite easy to mess up, but decided to try my luck and I was not disappointed.  The broth was flavourful and the blood cake was well cooked and fully absorbed the tasty broth.  Portion size is crazy though, it’s enough to fill up two people, especially with the six banchan and an extra fried egg.  The banchan were quite well made.
