Kingston Eats: Menchie’s

I was glad to try out this new self-service frozen yoghurt bar before leaving Kingston.  It seems to be a very popular spot now in K-town because it’s always crowded with people no matter how late it gets.  One of the flavours I particularly liked was the red velvet cake frozen yoghurt.  I know it’s just chocolate cake, but it’s richly intense in chocolate flavour and the colour isn’t a shocking red colouring.  I don’t usually like to add toppings, but I was quite fond of the boba topping (it comes in different flavour).  These are medium sized pearls and the fruit juice would explode in your mouth.  It is expensive but it’s a pretty neat place to hang out with friends and grab a treat on a hot summer day.

Baltimore Eats: Mr. Yogato

Based in DC but now has other locations in nearby States.  They have lots of toppings to choose from.  Honestly I had better frozen yoghurt than the ones served here.  They are so oversweet.  The one I got was very melty, and I ate it indoors (not under the baking heat of sun) right after purchase.  It just wasn’t great.

Montréal Eats: Yeh! Yogourt et café

The owner describes it well enough: “At Yeh!, the customers serve themselves, choosing from a wide variety of flavors, toppings, and sauces. Yeh! has fantastic flavors of the highest quality non-fat frozen yogurt, over 40 toppings, ranging from fresh fruits to dried toppings like cranberries, organic raisins, flax seed, to candy, cereals and chocolates. The price of the frozen yogurt is determined by weight, at 48 cents per ounce. Customers can mix as many flavors of frozen yogurt and put on as many toppings as they wish. After creating their own mix of frozen yogurt with all their favorite flavors and toppings, customers take it to the cashier to weigh, pay and then enjoy.”

It’s a very popular place in downtown Montréal.  The frozen yogurt is of good quality.  It is a bit pricey though, but it’s fun to serve yourself and pick the toppings.   It’s definitely a very nice hangout place.
